Admissions 2008 for First Batch of NIFT Center - Mauritius

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It has emerged as a premier Institute of Design , Management and Technology, developing professionals for taking up leadership positions in Fashion Business in the emerging global scenario.

NIFT has set academic standards and excelled in thought leadership by providing a pool of creative genius and technically competent professionals. The institute provides a common platform for fashion education, research and training and awards Degrees of various disciplines in the field of fashion education (under NIFT Act 2006 published in the Gazette of India on 14^th July 2006 Statutory Status has been conferred on NIFT.) Presently NIFT has eight centres located in different cities in India .

NIFT is pleased to announce its first overseas centre in Mauritius to provide training in fashion education for students. The NIFT - Mauritius centre is established in collaboration with local partner, M/s R. F. Gandhi AKT Ltd. The academic activities will commence from July/August 2008.

NIFT Mauritius will offer the following programmes for Academic Session beginning July/ August 2008.

B. Design (Fashion Design) 

A four year full time undergraduate program for Bachelor Degree in Design with specialization in Fashion Design

Eligibility :

The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognised Central/ State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
or
General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
or
Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in Foreign countries recognised by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.
or
A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.

Career Opportunities: Designers, Freelance Design Consultants, Stylists, Forecasting and Fashion Trends Forum Organisers, Costume Designers, Illustrators and Entrepreneurs.

Masters in Fashion Management

A 2 year full time masters program for a Masters Degree in Fashion Management

Eligibility :

A three years Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities or Diploma in Accessory / Fashion Design / FIT from NIFT only.

For foreign Bachelor’s Degree that are not recognised by the Association of Indian Universities, proper certification by a National Body constituted in the country concerned for granting equivalence will have to be produced.

Fees for NIFT center Mauritius

The candidates upon admission would be required to pay an annual fee applicable to NRI candidate admitted to NIFT ( India ) i.e. Rs. 3,18,500/- + US$ 1000. The amount is approximately Rs. 3,60,000/-  at the current rate.

Procedure for applying for NIFT Mauritius

        Candidate seeking admission to this Centre should apply in the prescribed application form, which can be downloaded from the link below, along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 3,000/- or US $70 in favour  of NIFT New Delhi payable at New Delhi (India).

Submission of Form

The duly filled in application form should be submitted to Registrar (Admissions), National Institute of Fashion Technology, NIFT Campus, Hauz Khas, New Delhi , India OR NIFT, Royal Road , Arsenal, Republic of Mauritius so as to reach on or before 6^th June 2008.
