          No. It is available upon purchase of prospectus.

Where can I have further information about Admission 2006 in NIFT at places where there is no NIFT Centre?

I think I may need a financial assistance. Are there avenues available in terms of loans and scholarships?
          Scholarships are available on merit cum means basis. For further details you have to contact 
          Head, Academic Affairs at NIFT, New Delhi after admission
What about Placements?
          NIFT facilitates campus placements in all streams.
What degree/title will I get after completion of the course?

          NIFT now offers 4 years - undergraduate and 2 years -postgraduate programmes in the areas of 
          Design, Management and Technology. The course content and duration of 4 year 
          undergraduate / 2 year postgraduate programmes are at par with Bachelor / Master Degree 
          courses of any professional education programme. Students on successful completion of 
          UG/PG programme shall be eligible to receive NIFT graduate / PG Diploma. All endeavors are 
          being made by NIFT to acquire status of Institution of Excellence, through 
          which it would be possible to award a ‘Degree’ instead of ‘Diploma’ in its programme.

I want the prospectus to be mailed to my address. what is the procedure?
          Prospectus can be obtained through post by sending a DD of Rs.300/- in favor of NIFT 
          payable  at New Delhi to Registrar (Admission)
Is it possible to take a transfer to another centre of NIFT later on?
          No inter centre transfer requests are entertained.
What is the procedure for admission?

When is the next entrance examination?
          The Entrance Examination for Admission 2007 will be held in February 2007.
Can I use last year application form?
          No. The application form is subjected to a change every year.
Are all centres equal in terms of infrastructure and other facilities?
          Yes.
What are the career prospects?
          These are different for different streams. Details are available in the prospectus.
What are the various courses offered by NIFT other than the courses mentioned in the prospectus?
          There are no regular courses other than the courses mentioned in the prospectus. For short 
          term and CE programmes please contact Registrar NIFT Centre, New Delhi.
Is there any age bar?
          NIFT has no age bar for any of the programmes.
Is knowledge about tailoring required for the entrance?
          It is not required.
What NIFT offers NRIs/Foreign Nationals?
Fifteen percent (15%) of total seats on supernumerary basis in each discipline is reserved for admission of Foreign Nationals whether residing in India or abroad, applicant from SAARC countries and Non Resident Indian as specified in the Income Tax Act. 1961. The admission to NIFT programmes for foreign nationals / NRI candidates will be based only on the written examination. The written examination of the candidates applying under this category is normally conducted in the premises of the Indian Embassy / Mission of the respective country.

Non Resident under Income Tax Act, 1961

The definition of a non-resident for the purpose of Indian Income Tax Act is different than that under Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999. Residential status is determined on the basis of physical presence for every year separately as per the provisions of Income Tax Act, 1961.

A. Resident

(a) An individual is resident if any of the following conditions are satisfied:
      (i)  he stayed in India for 182 days or more during the previous year
      (ii) he stayed in India for 365 days or more during the four preceding years and stays in India for at least 60 days    
           (182 days in case of an Indian Citizen or a person of Indian Origin coming on a visit to India or 182 days in case of 
         an Indian citizen  going abroad for an employment) during the previous year.

(b) Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) or firm or other Association of persons is resident of India except in cases where the 
      control and the management of its affairs is wholly situated outside India in that previous year.

(c) A Company is resident in India if-
     (i)   it is an Indian Company or
     (ii)  during the previous year, the control and management is situated wholly in India.

B. Non Resident

A person is non-resident if he is not resident in India.

C. Resident but not Ordinarily Resident

An individual or Hindu Undivided Family(HUF) is treated to be not ordinarily resident in India in any previous year if he or the manager of HUF-
     (a) has been resident in India in at least 2 out of 10 previous years immediately preceding the relevant previous year.
     (b) has been in India for a period of 730 days or more during 7 years immediately preceding the relevant  previous     
           year.

How are study centres allotted at NIFT?
          Candidates exercise their choice at the time of applying through admission forms. The final 
          allotment of study centre is on a merit cum choice of the candidate.

The solved sample model question papers for NIFT Entrance Examination are available at the NIFT website under the download section.
Incase I do not receive my Admit Card?
          As per schedule, you should be receiving your Admit Card latest by 27th January, 2006. In 
          case  you do not receive it till then please contact at admission@niftindia .com or Registrar 
          (Admission) at NIFT, New Delhi.
In case I do not receive my Admit Card till the date of my Examination, what should I do?
          The list of Examination Centre and the Roll Number allotted to you will be displayed on the 
          website by last week of January 2006.You can take a printout of the same and reach your 
          examination centre one day in advance to get a duplicate admit card.
In case I do not receive acknowledgement that my Admission Form is submitted?
          Please retain the photocopy of the Admission Form with you & correspond on 
          admission@niftindia.com by mentioning the Admission Form Number which is distinct on the 
          Admission Form i.e your identity number till you receive your Roll Number.
Can I change my Test Centre for the Examination?
           No
What are the documents to be enclosed along with the Application Form?

          - Demand Draft of Rs.1000/-(Rupees five hundred only for SC/ST/PHP)

          - A self addressed and self stamped Envelope by affixing postage stamp of Rs. 6 only.

Do I need to retain the photocopy of the Admission Form?
          Yes, for all future correspondence with NIFT with respect to non-receipt of Admit Cards and 
          other queries, if any.
How do I check my status of Application Form submitted?
          Till you do not receive your Roll Number your Admission Form Number is your ID for 
          correspondence.  After receiving  your Roll Number, you have to specify the Roll Number for 
          any further communication and clarification.
How do I submit my Application Form?

          the Prospectus.
What is the schedule of Examination?
          Please refer the Admission Calendar at Page 40 of the prospectus.
