Enterprise Management for Fashion Business

 

NIFT has provided thought leadership to the industry through various regular and continuing education programmes in design, technology and management. All the programmes offered by NIFT have been well received by the industry and eventually have added value and directed the growth of the industry. In the present context, there has been a felt need by the industry for a specialised programme conducted on fast track mode to update and equip the middle and senior level executives faced with challenges in the emerging global scenario.

To emerge as a national centre of excellence NIFT offers the post graduate diploma program in Enterprise Management for Fashion Business. An eighteen month programme designed to provide expertise to owners, entrepreneurs, middle and senior level business managers and decision makers in the fashion industry. It aims to build a strong professional foundation of technical and managerial ability for effective decision making. The highlights of the programme include global exposure with international visits, inputs from leading experts of the industry and academia, nationally and internationally. 

TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Teaching at the Institute evolves a cohesive, contextual and nurturing environment for learning.  The emphasis is on professional development providing competitive edge by standardising pedagogy and teaching methodology.  Students undertake classroom and workshop assignments, conduct field observations, make presentations and participate in group discussion and seminars and are encouraged to develop industry linkages.  The students are also encouraged to work in an intellectually stimulating environment on projects focusing on integrative abilities and concepts.   

EVALUATION

The evaluation system aims at evaluating student’s knowledge, skills and encourages self improvement.  The evaluation scheme focuses at an entire gamut of learning and corresponding evaluation tools like task-based assignments, interactive industry projects, internships, research surveys and written examinations throughout the semester. Juries comprising of academicians and industry professionals judge student’s work and provide qualitative evaluation and feed back in terms of overall growth and performance.

The NIFT faculty trained at some of the leading design, technology and management institutes of international repute bring to the classroom professional capabilities, wide exposure and years of hands-on industry experience. Committed to grow in their profession, the faculty constantly upgrade their knowledge and skills through sustained interaction with the industry and research work in relevant areas. The highlights of the programme include inputs by international experts from leading institutes and industry.

RESOURCES

The Institute has comprehensive infrastructure for a complete learning experience.  Each specialised stream is furnished with appropriate workshops and laboratory based resources.  A library and Materials Wing at the Resource Centre support the teaching programme and research initiatives at NIFT. 

ELIGIBILITY

·          A three years Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities

·          For foreign Bachelor’s Degree, not recognised by the Association of Indian Universities, proper certification by a National Body constituted in the country concerned for granting equivalence will have to be produced.

·          A three year undergraduate Diploma from NIFT only. 

PROGRAMME DESIGN

The programme is offered at NIFT, New Delhi. It is of 18 month duration divided into three semesters of six months each. The programme consists of a final term research project, the successful completion of which will lead to a diploma in ‘Enterprise Management for Fashion Business’.

The program is benchmarked with international standards and includes inputs from foreign experts. The course includes an international visit of three weeks for the students to understand best global practices in various areas of the fashion industry.

Rs.1 lakh per semester

Fee Structure for the first semester (6 Months):

Tuition Fees             Rs.1,00,000/-  (non-refundable)

Security Deposit       Rs.     5,000/-  (refundable)

Library Fee              Rs.     2,500/-  per year (non-refundable)

Insurance Premium  Rs.        500/-  (one time) (-do-)

*The cost of International visit/internship shall be borne by the student directly.

ADMISSION TEST 

All the eligible candidates will have to appear for a written examination followed by personal interview at NIFT New Delhi. The written exam and interview shall be conducted to test the knowledge, skill and aptitude of the candidates for the programme.
