FAQs

NIFT in its continuous endeavour to play a path-finder’s role to facilitate business competitiveness in a global context, has conducted a major re-constructing exercise. NIFT programmes are restructured to suit the changing business context and move towards University Education. NIFT now offers 4 years - undergraduate and 2 years -postgraduate programmes in the areas of Design, Management and Technology.

The course content and duration of 4 year undergraduate/2 years postgraduate programmes are at par with bachelor/Master Degree courses of any professional education programme. Students on successful completion of UG/PG programme shall be eligible to receive NIFT Graduate/PG Diploma. There is, however a proposal of NIFT under active consideration of Government of India to obtain the status of Deemed to be University under the provision of UGC Act. In the event of this status, all the students being admitted under 4 yearUG/2 year PG programme shall be eligible to receive a Bachelor/Master Degree in Design/Technology/Management.

The new curriculum aims at providing University Education in a 10+2+4 pattern, which is consonant with global professional education systems. This also provides opportunities for the NIFT professionals to be a part of global network of design, management and technology education institutes. The new multi-disciplinary curriculum also aims to deliver skill oriented and broad based education, integrating it with IT and modern industry practices for an all round development of future fashion professionals. Seminars, workshops, technology demonstrations, trade fairs, guest lectures, industry internships and field assignments firmly root the students to the real world.
